NCRC has grown bigger over the years and the majority of the kids (like 85-90%) want to go on to private school afterwards. Realistically, only 8-10 kids from there can go to Beauvoir each year, if that. So even kids from NCRC should cast a wider net than just applying to Beauvoir, unless they're also kids of Cathedral school alums. It is a great option for its wonderful preschool program and phenomenal teachers. The outplacement guidance is very good and opened our eyes to options that we may not have applied to otherwise.
Thanks for your input! Does it apply to PreK or also K?
NCRC's PreK program is really good - better, I think, than what I saw at area privates, and also have heard the same from families who have experienced both. If you are really set on Beauvoir, though, you could try at PreK and then again at K if you don't get in.
I hear that their preK is beyond expectation. I will do that! Thanks a lot for sharing very useful informations.
I have had kids doing last year at NCRC and another PK at BVR. I agree that I liked the NCRC PK year best, but it is less academic. At BVR the kids learn letters numbers and begin to learn phonics and math. This is not the case at NCRC. My DD (who was quite advanced) came out of NCRC only knowing upper case letters and numbers. My other kid at BVR learned upper case and lower case letters as well as numbers and a little phonics and math. I still think PK at NCRC is better since in K at BVR they start again from zero.
Thank you for sharing.
