I don't think any school has a 5th grade AIM class. A few outliers take AIM *virtually* in 5th or (extremely rarely) 4th. Most kids who end up in Alg 1 in 6th (non TPMS, at schools that allow it) qualify via MAP score after taking Compacted Math 5/6 in 5th grade. They qualify for Alg 1 due to home study or external classes.
Not true. TPMS absolutely will not move kids into algebra in 6th due to MAP scores.
Correct! TPMS, like most MCPS MS does not accelerate kids into Algebra because of MAP scores. However, this does happen at a handful of wealthy MS like Frost. The only students eligible for Algebra 1 in 6th at TPMS come from a wealthy Potomac ES that offers AIM in 5th grade.
It takes more than a drum to make music.
