And does she need to file for DC?[/quote] Similar situation but in VA. 17 y.o made about 2.2K. We added another $350 in pretend earnings (baby sitting) and put in $2,500 into a Roth IRA. Filed taxes to get back the small amount of Federal and state taxes withheld as well as to start the record on the Roth IRA in case some idiot questions it down the road. Did the same for an older kid a couple of years ago when earnings were about $1.5K and there were no witholding. No requirement to file, however. [/quote]
