You people are doing to the military exactly what you have done over the last few years to law enforcement. You are lumping ALL military into one group and demonizing them ALL because of the actions of a few. Do you do the same to teachers when a teacher is arrested for having sex with a student? Or, to lawyers when a lawyer is arrested for embezzlement? Or, to physicians when a doctor is arrested for molesting his patients?
My governor has a hotline for parents to write in about teachers who are too woke. And on top of that mismanaged the money going to all jurisdictions lying about how much money they would get this year and on top of this, thinks teachers should now have to arm themselves in the classrooms on top of teaching 30 1st graders. So yeah, I think the right does this all the time. The military does great things, but even they have admitted they have a huge problem on their hands and that is with them dismissing people from service instead of actually prosecuting them for their crimes on top of all the cover up. As you can see in the church, anything that is mostly all male with a lot of competition for power, you are going to have misuse of that power. Same for the police. The military and police do not police themselves and spend a huge amount of time berating others and calling them weak. It's an unfortunate fact of their lifestyle. Luckily cameras are helping to weed out some of the problems in the police force but the military does not have this type of supervision. There must be thousands of people doing the same thing and for this person not to be noticed by the military and called out by a NYT report is scary stuff. There is a huge oversight problem in the military right now and a huge problem with right wing propaganda spreading there. Unfortunately, the military themselves isn't doing enough to address either of these. How many others are involved in just this one case? Even this one kid had two people in his own family who were huge military supporters? How do you stray that far away from carrying out the fundamental duties of the military in a family like that?
