France assesses, correctly, that they have nothing to do with whatever issue the US decided it has with china vs Taiwan. It’s far and no one cares.
Actually everyone should care. Taiwan Semiconductor makes the vast majority of the world’s semiconductors and damn near all of the advanced microchips that are used by to operate our cars, planes, iPads, laptops, phones, etc. when I learned about this I was furious with the US for putting our national security in one place. And yes, Taiwan Semi makes the chips for our drones, rockets, missiles, etc. thank goodness Biden came up with the chip act to bring some of these chip manufacturing back to the US. But for now, if China took over Taiwan, China would be holding all the keys to technology and advancement. Even Nvidia, Apple and Broadcom rely on TSMC to manufacture their advanced chips. And that’s why Taiwan is important to us at this time in history. Btw, for the poster screeching about Pelosi going to Taiwan, I agree that was a bad move. No subtlety at all when the USA cannot afford to go to war with China at this time. However, I hope that poster was screeching about McCarthy’s welcoming visit and hosting of the Taiwan President a couple of weeks ago.
So? Learn to make them and do not depend on others. Just because you want something is no reason to grab it.
I am not sure you follow. China would be the country grabbing them. They are strategically important and major US companies funded and pumped Taiwan Semi. What is troubling is that every president before Biden talked about that security risk of Taiwan Semi having such a major stake in US national security, but did nothing to address it. Biden is trying to address it now by pumping billions of US dollars to bring some of those manufactures to the states. Global Foundries, TSMC, Intel and TXN are all building new facilities in Arizona and Ohio. This will bring some manufacturing jobs back to the US and alleviate some of the angst of Taiwan Semi falling into the hands of China and making the USA China's butt-boy.
