I never saw Pence as a "laughing-stock." He was a dignified, sober individual who took his job seriously. Kamala is the complete opposite.
Ok, Mother…. Lol!
Totally fair The problem is that some presidents are not well suited for the challenges that come their way. Both Bush and Obama - in different ways - were unprepared and ultimately inadequate when it came to handling the challenges of a post 9/11 world. Our missions in Afghanistan and Iraq were thoughtless and ill-defined. As a consequence, several thousand American soldiers died. Tens of thousands of others suffered injuries. And because of those Bush/Obama policies, hundreds of thousands of people in the region died as well. Terrible But because of the inadequacies and insecurities of our elected presidents, the VPs had an enormous role. Fill the gap. Cheney most famously. But Biden too. Remember, as a senator he voted for war in Iraq. And as a VP, he was for it and guided US foreign policy. Obama himself checked out and wanted to pass it off to his successor. VPs matter a lot when presidents are weak. So imagine that you had a kid in the military or doing ROTC. Life or death. Cheney and Biden obviously wouldn't give a damn about your kid. Pence just wants your kid to go to heaven. But do you really think Kamala Harris would be any better? No Which makes her so disappointing - woman, person of color, historic. But an absolute nothing. It's too bad
To have a discussion on VP expectations boil down to caring about our troops is strange. It’s a small part of what a president and VP have on their plate. To then make the leap about who cares and who doesn’t is just unfair: one could argue that connecting and genuinely expressing grief with families is a strength of Biden’s, and a complete weakness of Trump’s.
