Mine isn't quite in Middle School yet, but what he does now will be the same then. He goes to sailing camp and spend the summer on the water and racing regionally. If you are near a sailing center or yacht club it's a great option for the tweens/teens.
Look, we're members of a yacht club and live on the water but this is quite possibly the least helpful thing I have ever seen posted on DCUM.
PP, genuine question, how so? Around us there are also "Adventure Sailing" programs specifically for kids 12+ that don't want to race and just get them out on the water all day. You don't need to be a member and if you look at a weekly rate it is well below most other camps. Plus it's an activity that can be done your whole life and when you learn really doesn't matter.
