OP, it’s hard for others to understand why this a big deal unless they have have been there. I am visually impaired and I would be horrified if that were how I were introduced to a new supervisor. I am not defined by my disability. I don’t know what the solution is here because I can’t imagine one of my coworkers doing this - they are very kind and sensitive - but I would consider talking to her and telling her how hurtful you found her introduction.
