The only time it is problematic is when you need to do squats. There is just no other equipment you can get a proper barbell squat with. You need the racks for safety and setup. Bench press is the other time it is sorta problematic when you have to wait, but you can do dumbbell presses as a very good alternative. There are just no real good alternatives to a barbell squat. Bulgarian split squats etc. are just OK as secondary lifts, they cannot substitute for squats. You also have to wait when it is leg or chest day, because you typically want to do your heavy lifts first such a squats or bench presses before doing any other types of secondary exercises. If it is really bad that day for equipment hogs, usually I will just have to switch to back day or something when I wanted to do legs. Yesterday though I was adamant about doing legs. Was looking forward to it since 530 AM and missed the opportunity by 20 seconds due to the rack hog who was annoying doing crap like deadlifts, arm curls and shoulder presses in the only rack in the gym.[/quote]
