Try seeing where you Mr kid can go on $5,500 as a freshman (the freshman loan limit)[/quote] The total over 4 YEARS for federal student loans is $27K. And if you have nothing saved for college and cannot easily cash flow, then you take the loan of ~$5.5K and find somewhere that give you merit. So it might be CC or a local school you can live at home. [/quote]
