DP.  I've been to China in more than one region.  I do agree it's not a developing country at all.  In fact, many of the cities are far more developed than just about any capital around the world that I can think of.

The issue with China is what happens to the people at the bottom versus the top.

In the morning, I saw laborers headed to work, one of which had poo streaming down his leg.  Why?  No sick leave and assume he was too poor to afford the paid health insurance - not just public.  That night, I had a fabulous meal in a nice, clean restaurant, filled with friendly hostesses and extravagant trappings.

I was told that many women there were seeking husbands, since most men were day laborers are still at work at their jobs.  Finding a husband with leisure time available was definitely a plus.  I probably could have done anything to anyone there and no one would have said a word as long as I laid out enough cash - but I didn't test my theory.

Any country is great, if you're in the top 0.01 percent of wealth.  The question is what happens to you as "a little person"?[/quote]
