Yes it was inevitable … I could never have an abortion myself but passionately support abortion rights for many reasons. A major one is that many women/ girls will either die or suffer greatly if forced to give birth.

So I couldn’t read the WSJ article but the NPR one said that this sharp spike was caused by covid. But in coming years it’s going to be caused by forced birth policies and a lack of obstetric care in forced birther states.

We need national standards and development of a national program to put in place adequate prenatal and postpartum care. Most of that care could be handled by nurses or midwives. A very first step would be to require private insurers to cover postpartum care.
