Is it a cultural thing?[/quote] We started because my kid had a bad math teacher and math was taught in a second language, but we've kept it up for many years even though those two factors are now moot. AoPS emphasizes deeper thinking and problem solving that isn't covered in any school setting (we've bounced between great publics and privates). DS is primarily interested in STEM subjects and I feel like he'll be much better prepared for college. My understanding is that a large percentage of MIT admits are AoPS students.[/quote]
