Desantis performed his regular military job, and then helped conduct mandatory urinalysis tests. It’s something every unit does. Actually shows they trusted him to handle sensitive issues. Also- when people have evidence of drug use in the urine, they can try to discredit the process so the unit needs professional people handling the process. Also-some people who are caught with “hot” urine know they are going to lose their military career and go ballistic.

While stationed in Germany, a member of my unit got caught on the urinalysis and threatened the family of the urinalysis coordinator. It resulted in his arrest as well as his expulsion from the military. The family was very scared because the dangerous idiot had his drug dealer and goons riding around military housing and unit formations as a form of intimidation.
