The latter. Quality of education if my kid doesn't get into a magnet. Quality of extracurriculars (is it at a high level, or is it so competitive you can't get in). Course options. Is there a lot of flexibility, etc.?

Huh. I'm a Seneca Valley parent, and I, personally, know some unhappy parents at Clarksburg, Northwest, and Quince Orchard. And Poolesville. And Wootton, to be comprehensive. Oh, and Damascus.[/quote]

Agree with this statement.  Each school has signature programs, access to other programs at other schools, access to AP or DE courses, all have extra-curriculars.  Sports in general are going to be competitive because these schools have 1500+ students and usually some 400-600 kids trying out each season.  How competitive any given sport is going to be will depend on the pool of students in the area and school trying out.  There are some no cut sports usually.  Unless a family has a kid in more than one of these schools or had one attend recently the comparisons here are going to be skewed by hearsay.[/quote]
