Husel coaching can be um, difficult and if you decide their coaching style isn’t for you, they can be even more difficult when you try to leave. What’s happened to Metro in Leesburg? Are they still doing well?
Buyer beware on Hussel, I’ve heard the director is unhinged, many stories of calls to parents, yells at them, hangs up on them and is vindictive to players who leave the club. They also focus on a few favorite players. Preferential treatment if you play for fairfax. Our friend’s daughter has gotten no support or help with recruiting.
How can they be vindictive once the player has left? Also, any feedback from current parents on Freedom Hockey? Both the good and the bad? I’ve seen their star rise but curious how the merger with Spark has worked out, and how that may have affected playing opportunities.
Thank you. This is very helpful. She's vindictive in her influence, such as with college recruiting, and keeping players off of all-state lists, etc. She has a couple of favorite players who get recognition far beyond what they deserve, which is also very frustrating. I don't know how that woman got so much influence. As for Freedom, my DD played for several years. They have been the strongest club in the area by far for quite some time and yes, now confirming their place as top 3 or 4 in the country. I think the merger with Spark means that now even the 2nd team will have a shot of being a positive experience for players. Until the merger, as long as you rostered on the top team, Freedom was fantastic. For everyone else, it was just okay. With that said, I don't think all the coaching is great. Sarah D. is obviously an amazing coach and the younger former MD player is definitely up and coming. Beyond them, it looks a little hit or miss. I don't have a player there anymore, but do hear from parents who are still there. My DD had a great experience, but was also a bit relieved when the pressures of club field hockey were behind her (now a college player).
