I read the studies linking dementia and made an appointment ASAP! I’m 52. I went to Costco. They have free hearing tests and the hearing aides aren’t super expensive. (Mine were around $1700 for both. My Mom went to an audiologist and they were trying to get her into $5,000 per ear (!!!!!) hearing aides.) No one can see them. My husband didn’t even realize when I got them. And best part is I can listen to stuff on my phone. I’ve gotten through so many audiobooks just doing stuff around the house. (And no one can tell because no one can see them like you can with ear buds). Super comfortable, even with glasses. Only issue I’ve had is taking off my mask I sometimes snag it and it falls off. But I’m getting better about remembering how to take the mask off without doing that.
My mother was just diagnosed with dementia at 82. I am concerned and read about the link as well. I just keep thinking I am too young for hearing aids at 50 but I would rather have hearing aids than dementia.
Don’t get the “too young” part. You have hearing loss or not. No one will be able to tell whether or not you have hearing aids.
