OP, you don't need it to be an actual bathing suit. Not if you don't want it to be. I'm your age. I'm much more comfortable in swim capris, any capris length parachute-like material pant and a T shirt (also called a rash guard if you get one specifically for swimming). More coverage, more modest. Why do women have to expose so much more of their bodies than men? Women's bathing suits are so much more revealing. I mean you can if you want to. But don't have to.
This is what my mother in law does at the beach and pool, and she seems to be more uncomfortable in all the clothing than she would be in a modest swimsuit. she has what is essentially a full length swim pant/shirt set. She has admitted that she is more comfortable in the sports bra/rash guard/swim skirt combo I gave her from lands end, but still occasionally gets worked up about people seeing her varicose veins. I’ve told her many times before that she should not feel so badly about them, as no one should be that hard on themselves, and we all deserve to have leisure time and feel comfort wow while doing so. Wear the suit, enjoy yourself and stop worrying about what others think.
