One of my neighbors sold their house 1.5 years ago and are now zoned for another FCPS school. Their sophomore kid is still attending Oakton high. Is this somehow allowed or are they manipulating the system….wwyd?
There could be any number of reasons unknown to you as to why they are still attending, despite having moved to another FCPS boundary. But before you try to rat them out, think for a minute, OP. How would you feel if you petitioned (and received authorization) to have your child remain at their old school for one of the allowable reasons, and your former neighbors contacted the school to “inform” them of this alleged discretion? It’s really none of their business as to why you petitioned and received permission — if it was, then these petitions would be made public. But I’m sure it would make you angry to be tattled on. The only way I would consider informing anybody is if I new FOR A FACT (as in, they admitted it) that they were committing fraud — and even then, I’m not sure I would do it. Live your life, OP!
