I've been on many PTA's and BCC is by far the best. Lyric Winik was given the award for MCPS PTA President last year. Sadly she is leaving but hopefully she has inspired the rest of the PTA. She strikes an incredible balance between being diplomatic  while still holding BCC/MCPS's feet to the fire.

In general, teachers are very good. Our counselor stunk but we switched to a much better one. Our Administrator is incredibly helpful. The principal is fine. The central office dictates a lot so sometimes it seems his hands are tied.

You should know that communication during lockdowns is horrific. You need to have a network or people who know what's going on. Kids and teachers are not told whether their lockdowns are because of a shooter or a medical emergency so emotions run high and the school/MCPS seems to refuse to address the problem. Bathrooms are locked because they don't have security. So if your kid uses the bathroom a lot, it's a tough place to be ;)

Overall I think it's a very good school and I think it can accommodate children with a wide range of interests and capabilities.

I think the issues at BCC are similar to those at other schools in the county. The positives listed above are all very true.
