They're not going to tell you the swing space far in advance. DCPS has certain spaces available, and the schools being renovated rotate through them. So the spaces that become available for Tyler will depend on how the renovations of other schools go, how long they take. There are certain spaces that DCPS owns and has announced the intention of using for swing. Meyer, Sharpe, Old Banneker (Euclid St), KC Lewis (in LeDroit Park), and Emery come to mind. You can look at those locations and decide how you feel about them, because it's a good chance it will be one of them. Look, a lot can change about a school. Principals can come and go. Programming can change in big ways. Schools can be opened, closed, merged, feeders can change, and you'll get about a year of notice, or less. This is the way a school district works-- all the schools are pieces of a puzzle and they're not going to cater to any one school and its parents.
If you think "far in advance" means in advance of families having to make 2023-24 lottery selections then either (i) you don't speak and understand English or (ii) you work for DCPS Central. Someone observed that DCPS should be communicating information about what schools and what swing spaces will be used. You replied to say "they aren't going to tell you". No sh*t Sherlock. The point was that they should. Do you really think a competent agency wouldn't know what schools will be renovated next year, or where they'll swing?
They're not telling you the swing space now because they don't know. It isn't decided yet. It depends on how things go with the available spaces. "Renovation begins in '24" means that *planning for it* begins in FY 24. They do not actually swing until FY 2025. You are confusing school years with fiscal years perhaps. Here's a letter that says when it will actually start: https://resources.finalsite.net/images/v1631716822/jowilsondcorg/n2vai1iyfd7g83qxzoh9/44ca6627-e70b-4408-b6e2-071a5c78bc8e2.pdf They do know which schools will be renovated next year and it won't be JO Wilson. And they know which swing spaces are likely to be available, and they seem to have a tentative plan of a trailer-based space. It's not like they just have no clue and it could be literally anywhere. The final decision has not yet been made. Because it depends. https://app.box.com/s/m0sjaadtl7yveo6lfl46odsasgfarnkx Here is the budget. You will find JO Wilson on page 170.
