Face it, if they haven't moved close to you by age 80, they're not doing it. OP is going to be in a situation sometime in the coming years that is not uncommon which is that elderly parents who live far away either die, have a major health crisis like a stroke, or totally run out of money. Then one of their kids has to drop everything, fly there, and try to sort things out while taking time off work and time from parenting. Maybe have to deal with getting them situated in assisted living or hospice while getting rid of the contents of an entire house and sorting out their financial issues. It sucks.
