I’m into my sushi mat right now, especially for kid lunches. What are some non-raw things you think go with sushi rice and nori? I think the champion is clearly avocado. I’m also thinking egg, cucumber, that sort of thing. I can’t seem to make chicken work. It’s always weird. But maybe steak? Bacon? Is that too weird?
Koreans have a version of rolls called ggim bap. Look it up - we put in carrots, egg, a type of pickled radish, tofu, seasoned beef, spinach, etc. It’s more savory than sushi rolls and meant to be eaten as is - not dipped in anything. It’s traditional picnic food!
