Accepted! Test optional 3.9 UW/4.3 weighted 14 AP (did not submit scores but has 4s and 5s and listed two years of AP awards on app) Really good ECs, one unique EC. Know two LORs were excellent, no idea about the third.
Congratulations! One question -- if unweighted GAP is 3.9, why is the weighted GPA only a 4.3 with 14 AP classes? Does your school not give an extra point for AP classes?
I don’t know? Schools have different schedules. I mean it will definitely be higher at the end of the year but our school only calculates at year end. First quarter senior year was a 4.7 I think?
I'm the PP whose DC has identical stats with this poster. The grades that go into the ED application only goes through the end of Junior Year, so the GPA is not weighted with all 14 AP courses, just 7. By end of senior year, there will be more of a gap between the weighted and unweighted GPA cumulative because it will be weighted by all 14 AP classes. The end of year cumulative GPA is what you see on Naviance- which is really very misleading for us who are looking at it with the end of Junior year grades. I used to think- my kid cannot make those 4.4 GPA "demarcation lines" for schools such as UVA and W&M but now I know they are different data points. Wish Naviance shows the GPA that the applicant applied with.
