Global warming models do not operate on a per capita basis. The climate is affected by the total amount of CO2, and China alone is emitting much more than the scientists call for. Run the models with US and Europe at 0 CO2, and global warming still takes place. It's not even much of a drop in temperatures compared to the US and Europe not cutting emissions, especially since the countries other than China and India are also increasing emissions. Also, CO2 is not pollution. The usual excuse with China is to point at per capita, but even per capita they are above the target level, as well as the global per capita. Then the activists cover this up with historical cumulative emissions per capita. You can talk about Hannity and Steven Miller, but it is the environmentalists that are bad at arithmetic. You need to cut emissions by about 90% globally, and China has 30% of that number. To cut by 90%, you have to get to 10%. So even if everyone else dropped to 0, China would have to cut its 30% by two-thirds, and instead it is increasing. So unless you have a plan to get China to reduce emissions, every other global warming policy is futile. On top of that, India is headed towards its own 10%, if its not there already, plus the rest of the developing world is around 30%. The policy proposed is some sort of carbon tax and using World Bank funding to browbeat these countries into pursuing renewable energy. A proper solution would be to develop carbon free energy that is so cheap other countries will flock to it. You don't do this with subsidies and mandates.
Thanks for the explanation. The MSNBC crowd was sounding about as stupid as Hannity and Miller.
