[quote=simmonsj]I recommend Grace Episcopal Day School (www.geds.org) in Kensington. It's quite a small school (trying to re-grow) and the current 2nd grade (rising 3rd grade) class is particularly small (e.g. 8-10 kids). It's a fun group, very active, more boys than girls. The rising 4th grade class is a bit bigger (12-15 total) and full of really sweet kids. The academic approach is "traditional," and the kids move from class to class a fair amount (separate art, music, PE, Spanish classes) and have 2 recesses/day (mid-morning and after lunch). All the teachers are wonderful, and there is a definite focus on social-emotional growth as well as the opportunity for individualized academics. My 2 kids couldn't be more different, and Grace has been great for both of them. It is not a school "for" kids with learning disabilities, but they have been very flexible with us (my son has a speech/language tutor come into the school). I'd be happy to talk with you more about the school. For admissions info, contact John Bonhom (Director of Admission and Financial Aid) at jbonhom@geds.org or 301-585-3513 x 18.
