Can you try a different school before medicating? Throwing out there in case helpful.
. ADHD is not only a school issue.
ADHD is not ONLY a school issue. But for many children that is the biggest issue. Our son is on 4 medications for ADHD and anxiety. He was on these for 9 months while in middle school and we had daily problems with peers, trouble falling asleep and horrible grades. He is now in a different school district with no med changes and he is thriving. No issues with peers and straight As. This has also helped his behavior at home. He is much more relaxed and has no sleeping issues. To answer the OP, our son takes guanfacine and it did help. Changing schools also helped.
