My kid is the same. His hair would look ridiculous if he "combed" it in the morning. I literally can't even remember the last time we brushed it. He gets it washed & conditioned every weekday and it's kept short. When it gets long it becomes curly... and of course you don't brush/comb curly hair dry in the morning. He is clean.
