And it’s the kids that have strict rules and restrictions at their homes who come to ours and search out sweets and have zero self control. I just cleaned out the pantry and tossed tons of Easter candy. My kids have unlimited access so actually rarely eat sweet stuff.[/quote]

Agree with this. My kids can get dessert every night if they want it. Sometimes they want something sweet right after school, sometimes not. One of my kids doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth and usually only wants dessert if we are having ice cream - I don’t measure the servings, maybe a cup plus some chocolate sauce? The other two do ask for dessert just about every night - a popsicle or two in the summer, a few cookies. They have syrup when we have waffles and might still get a treat after school and/or after dinner. And some days we have nothing sweet at all! It’s not some forbidden or highly regulated thing. DH doesn’t like sweets and only has them once or twice a week. I’m probably more like 5 days a week, either cookies after lunch or something after dinner.

A neighbor kid has parents who are super restrictive about food and sweets. Every time she comes over, she goes right for the candy! My mom was the same way when I was growing up and it was awful - I gained a ton of weight in college because I never had the chance to learn to regulate my own food consumption. Had to figure it out the hard way as a young adult. [/quote]
