I inadvertently put something in my purse in a Walgreens and saw it when I got my wallet to pay. When I told the cashier she said I would not even have been approached if they had seen me - it is a nationwide policy so no one gets shot. This was in an UMC neighborhood 1 hr outside Philly. I guess that is why the stores are all locking up the $$ stuff and you need to call an employee. They also push purchasing online and having the items shopped for you.
Would you have drawn your gun on the security guard?
No. That wasn’t the point. I was unclear. Clearly. I guess the security guards were being put in danger often enough that policy changed to protecting employees over products. They now lock expensive items up. Or even easily stolen things like toothpaste. It’s annoying, but a better way than having a security guard or employee get hurt.
