I remember helping a male friend get out of a toxic, abusive relationship, including getting a restraining order to keep her away from him. Not a month later he was sleeping with her again in her new boyfriend’s house. He also got back into drugs. It was draining for me so I had to step away, and he committed suicide. You can’t help people who don’t want to be helped. I’ve learned to tell people “I want this for you, but I can’t want it more than you”. [/quote]
