I'm a teacher and I can honestly say I have never heard of teachers looking up student addresses to find out how much their house was worth. This has never even occurred to me. What would be the purpose of this? Even if I was nicer to the "rich" kids, it's not like the parents are giving me kickbacks or something. I get paid the same regardless of how much the parents make.
