New movie alert: Not on Hallmark, but there's a new Christmas romance movie on CBS on Sunday, Dec. 18, "When Christmas Was Young." The lead is Karen David, whom I love -- she is a fantastic singer and such a sweet, strong presence, and this movie sounds like it's ripe for some songs! (You might know Karen David from "Once Upon a Time," "Fear The Walking Dead" or the divine musical sitcom "Galavant.") CBS's summary-- “The story follows a headstrong music manager in desperate need of a hit song for his last remaining client, who finds himself falling for a gifted singer-songwriter with abandoned dreams of making it big, as he attempts to secure the rights to a Christmas song she wrote years ago.” Looking forward to it. Love things when they're set in the sort of meta worlds of music, TV/film, theaters.
I think the male lead is Tyler Hilton from One Tree Hill. I like CBS Christmas movies, because they only make a few, and the production quality is a lot better than most of the Hallmark/Lifetime fare. I liked A Christmas Proposal last year. The same guy who wrote that one and A Kiss Before Christmas (the Terri Hatcher/James Denton movie last year that was also delightful) has Must Love Christmas for CBS this year, and I'm looking forward to that one too.
