I fund our alma mater as part of our giving because I had a great experience there, feel that I want to pay it forward on the merit scholarship I received, and generally want to support the school in offering opportunities to others that are coming up through the pipeline. If my kid is one of those others, great. If not, so be it. My kid(s) will be fine no matter what because they have access to a financially and emotionally stable home.
