For my kids' education. If they're struggling in an area, I want to talk about it to see how we can support them. If I don't know where the teacher is assessing weaknesses, it's hard for me to be prepared to ask the right questions about what we need to do. [/quote]

Maybe you could trust that your child’s teacher isn’t a total dingbat who doesn’t know how to teach, and that the questions they are asking during the conference instead of showing youngest scores are because the answers have value for educating your child.[/quote]

It really boils down to a power and control issue by APS.  They hold all of the cards and want to limit parental involvement.

NP, For me it is a lack of trust. Our teacher last year told us she was not allowed to share them. We contacted the principal and he confirmed that teachers had been told they could not share them. We didn’t get them til early December. I could tell the teacher wanted to share them so I don’t blame the teacher.  And I trust teachers to identify issues. However, these assessments are one of the few objective measure we as parents get. I expect to get them earlier than halfway into the second quarter of school. [/quote]
