Yikes? https://wtop.com/dc/2022/10/2-hospitalized-after-stabbing-outside-grocery-store-in-northwest-dc/ Within eyeshot of the 2nd district station.
I’m going to guess that it is related to the homeless shelter that is also right next door to the police station. There has been a series of violent incident at Cathedral Commons that never occurred before in that area. https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/panhandler-attacks-couple-in-their-70s-with-victims-cane/2984119/ It’s a nice legacy for Cheh to leave her constituents.
Crime in NW DC?? What is this world coming to???
Well, since the density folks promised "vibrancy" there is nothing wrong with questioning the blight we've gotten instead.
Hi I will answer that. I am pro-density. I would also, at this point, be extremely skeptical about any homeless shelter/treatment center/voucher building being opened by DC in my neighborhood, because DC has shown zero inclination to provide adequate policing and social supports. In the case of the voucher placements on CT ave, the city had actually said that they *cannot* screen for things like criminal background. It’s all on the landlord to provide security. This is a much different situation from removing zoning restrictions so that the market can provide housing (at market prices).
