Arlington is higher dollar than Clarendon, generally speaking, because it is more desireable. I.e., the further north you go, the closer to McLean, the higher the home prices and rents. That said, there are more town homes/condos in the Clarendon area. OP, you should check around Marymount University. That's Country Club Hills, so rentals may be few and far between or out of your price range, but worth a looksie since there might be student housing a landlord might be relieved to rental to a family for a change.
