I’m a Floridian. North Florida, including the panhandle is most definitely southern. Jax is just South Georgia with a beach. Central Florida is where most of the crazy folks live. It’s where I’m from. There is a mix of everything here. South Florida has a Cuban feel, in a really awesome way.
I lived in Jax as a kid and Miami as an adult, this is so true! South FL and Miami definitely have the strong Cuban community and influence and there's large communities of other Caribbean, Central and South American people living there- depending on your work and the circles you travel in it feels like you're not even in the US. Then the Keys have their own identity as well and I don't really think of them as culturally "Southern" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conch_Republic
