My husband also didn't take his first plane ride until her was an adult. Now my kids fly 4 times a year lol. I think not flying until you are adult is pretty common for kids that grow up at lower incomes. [/quote] It is. Sometimes they don’t even leave their own neighborhood. My friend used to work with a group of low income youth in DC and she took them to pentagon city mall and they were quite impressed, they had never been. There was also an episode on the TV show The Chi that showed this. The school received a grant to take the kids to some fancy museum (this is in Chicago). As the bus ride by Lake Michigan they were all in awe cause they had never seen it. I didn’t grow up poor (we were low/middle class), but many of my family were poor so I’ve seen this sort of thing first hand too. [/quote]
