OP here. I’ll add that the actually does have recurring UTIs and he never takes antibiotics for them. He saw a urologist but prefers to “fight the infection” on his own rather than with drugs. Sigh. Checking his other meds is a good suggestion though unfortunately he doesn’t want my involvement (out of pride) and my mom doesn’t do anything either. So really I’m trying to ask anonymous strangers whether they think he’s just going to die because he’s failing to seek any medical care.
Your dad needs to understand that as an elder especially he is at high risk of developing sepsis that can quickly turn very bad and lead to death. This is a not uncommon result of untreated UTI especially in elders. It’s very very dangerous to fool around with UTI - you may or may not recall that former President Clinton was recently hospitalized for this very thing. https://www.usnews.com/news/health-news/articles/2021-10-18/bill-clinton-discharged-from-hospital-after-recovery-from-sepsis Sepsis is a leading cause of death. It is nothing to mess around with. Your dad needs to start treating his urological infections with antibiotics, STAT.
