You post optional assignments without indicating that on the title. Then it becomes overdue, and you think your kid is slacking. This happened A LOT for MS math. There were other weird non-assignments too for other classes but I can’t think now how that worked. [/quote]

YES -- or, as my DS (10th grade) tried to explain to me, that this one assignment I saw in his school email that he had missed was b/c you turned in X way but b/c the teacher needed to be able to show it in Y way, she had to post it was if it was an assignment through Schoology -- blah blah blah -- I really didn't understand, honestly, but considering the kid has all As at this point, I took his word for it that he had not actually missed turning in the assignment!![/quote]

This happens so much in high school. Assignments appear as not done in Schoology because they are submitted in a different way, but the teacher never marks it as submitted. So you have no idea if your kid did it. For an all-A kid it may not be a big deal, but for kids who need some monitoring it’s a problem, leading to arguments at home and regular emails to teachers to verify things are being done. [/quote]
