I live in Silver Spring and zero kids here have tutors. My kid is in compacted math and scores about 90th percentile locally normed on the tests, so all is well. It’s a thing, but it’s a Bethesda/Potomac thing.
I live in SS. Both my kids have tutors, and neither is struggling. About half the families I know do the same.
What grade are your kids in? How long have they had tutors?
I had reading tutors for my kids for grades 1 & 2. They had almost 0 individual reading instruction at school since they weren't struggling. One of my kids claimed their reading group only met once every two months. I felt this was necessary since the school is only interested in kids that are below grade level.
