For this upcoming year, as of today, Taylor will have 3 kindergarten classes and 4 classes in 1-5. It is the new normal since the rezoning. They are not taking away the trailers. Everything is subject to change due to late enrollments.
1st grade had 5 classes last year, and you're saying they are shrinking back to 4?
As of right now yes.
Ugh. Can't wait for my kid to start school with 26 kids again only to add an additional classroom in March.
How is this possible? Have kids withdrawn? They school board lowered class sizes for this year and I imagine more kids are returning post-COVID.
I know of one kid who was in 1st last year but is going to private in the fall, but yes to everything you said. How can they reduce the number of classes in light of the School Board reducing class sizes?!?
We live in 22207 and 2/3 of the families around us go private so 3 kindergartens sounds about right, and after last years drama I'm not surprised a whole class left which is why 1st is down ~26 students.
The numbers are not down. It’s consistent with last years K class.
Sorry I meant last years 1st grade — this years 2nd grade. Usually by the time you hit 3rd it’s much harder to switch/find opening. 2nd grade is down a class as per PP What is downside of fewer classes, seems like it would make it easier to run the school?
Seriously? The downside is larger class sizes.
But there’s a cap on class sizes. It just depends on how the total per grade breaks out. At ASFS they mixed 1st/2nd as well to balance classes. There won’t be any 30 person kinders, and lunch and recess will be way more manageable
PPs get FOMO thinking everyone is leaving for Private.
Well everyone with means has!
