Maybe there's no attention to detail because they make minimum wage.  I'm not saying the lack of attention is acceptable.  What I'm saying is there's really no motivation to do well.  Really low wages, no benefits, no health insurance... that would be soul sucking indeed. [/quote]

I still don't get it.  It's a simple job and they shouldn't make mistakes.  If I made a mistake in my job I would never hear the end of it.  I actually feel sorry for doctors because they don't get to make mistakes but somehow every time I go through a drive-thru or deal with something similar I encounter people making mistakes.[/quote]

Frankly, because people make mistakes and don't seem to care that they made a mistake.  They don't learn from their mistakes.  They take the "devil may care" attitude of the former BK burger slinger above (who I hope has improve her attitude with age).

Plus, I don't think it's necessarily profiling.  I sat at lunch today at a table with 10 people in our office.  I actually notice that the half of us that had soda all had diet something.  Everyone else had water.  Of the 10 people, 7 were men.  It may just be that the waiters get a lot of people ordering diet Coke and can't tell the difference by looking at it in the glass.  If it was a restaurant where the soda is poured from a hose at the bar, the bartender may have heard the order wrong or simply pressed the wrong button.  How's the waiter to know if it doesn't come in a bottle or can labeled "Coke".[/quote]
