Meantime, the eastern shore continues to be a pleasant And bewildering place to a lot of people. Large, historic Black population (UMES is an HBCU). New and growing Latino population for agricultural work. Some very affluent communities, some very poor ones and everything in-between. Biggest problem is the quality of schools, which makes it a good place to retire (can drive to JHU in Baltimore for serious medical care w/in 2 hours) but not so great for raising a family. [/quote]
