This new guy faced controversy in SC after he asked the families at his school to “forgive” a child who threatened a mass casualty event and posted videos on social media with many racial slurs and skits involving mass casualties to minority students.
The fact that St. Mary's hired him speaks volumes about their persistent insularity. Not surprised by this from school where "Let's Go Brandon" stickers are on a good number of cars at pick up. Unimpressive decision made by an unimpressive school.
+1 live in the neighborhood and the behavior by parents (mainly moms) at pickup is attrocious
I’m sorry you have experienced this as a neighbor. I will point out pick up is at Jones Point park, how do you see this behavior? If they are driving irresponsibly please tell the school or the police officer on duty. Or are you referring to the parents in front of the school, whose children are walkers and therefore your SE Old Town neighbors. Yes, it is summer, and I agree parents should not be receiving a lot of emails from the school, but I would have expected a “hey, I’m your new principal, it’s great to be here! Enjoy the rest of your summer!” email by now. .
The Jones point pick up doesn’t bother me at all, and I assume the residents who live right near the school knew what they were getting in to as the school has been there longer than them. It’s the families who claim to be walkers and park their giant suburbans and block us in (blocks away), yet have waynewood, belle haven, etc stickers on their cars and no old town parking permits so clearly should not be classified as walkers. I actually missed pickup at my child’s preschool bc it’s not walking distance and a “walker” family had parked their car across my driveway and left. Turns out they were sitting in another moms car chatting, oblivious. I hate to complain bc I know space is at a premium, but the school needs to make families do the organized carpool line if they don’t actually live or work in old town.
