I would just not take the risk, particularly if you have kids. I would be worried about stray bullets. Wawa also just left because they could not deal with the amount of shop lifting they were subjected to. The crime will affect you in many different ways there. It looked like a very promising area a decade ago, but unfortunately it went massively downhill in the last few years.[/quote]

We live in Columbia Heights with our toddler and have never felt unsafe. Granted we’re about 10 mins from the plaza and closer to the petworth/park view border. I hate the plaza and avoid at all costs.[/quote]

Must be nice. Most of the people in Columbia Heights rely on public transportation and need to access the metro station and adjacent bus lines which are at the epicenter of the violence. [/quote]

Not PP but I rely on public transportation and use a stop higher up on 14th for the buses and go to Petworth for the metro.[/quote]
