I’m a big k-drama fan (thanks mostly to this forum!), but I worry about this one. Those who have seen it, do you think an autistic lawyer would enjoy it? Or are the details dramatized to the point that there’s no way I could suspend disbelief? Im asking mostly thanks to Descendants of the Sun, which I loved but which clearly had enormous gaps between the plotlines and any real-world medical or military practices…. If I was a doctor or soldier, I don’t think I could have ignored the inaccuracies enough to enjoy the story.
Are you a Korean American? I wonder why k-dramas are gaining popularity lately
I’m the PP you were asking, and no. I’m white. My first k-drama was an anomaly that I checked out on Netflix because I read an article that praised it. (Kingdom — historical zombies, of all the random subjects!) DH and I liked it enough to check out a few other action-adjacent series. Then DCUM got me into the non-action shows thanks to everyone’s gateway drug, CLOY. I’m now an evangelist and recently hooked my mother too. I cringe at a few cheesy elements that turn up from time to time, but right now I prefer k-dramas to American shows for reasons I can’t quite describe. I like how well-rounded the characters tend to be, and especially the way the shows flesh out whole groups of secondary characters over time.
