Different MCPS school, but my kid did swim team last year. Team swim practices were twice a week, one practice after school (3 p.m.), one before school (5 a.m.). First practices (tryouts) were mid-November, last ones were late January. Meets were on Saturdays (various times).
Practices are only twice a week for a varsity sport?
Also, they are all fighting club teams for pool time. High schools don’t have pools.
By club you mean summer pool clubs or some year around activity?
We mean summer teams (MCSL) AND a year round team (PVS teams like ASA, NCAP, RMSC). My son does summer, high school and year round swimming which is typical. The kids who don’t swim year round in Division A are likely not swimming at every meet and their season is cut short a bit because they don’t go to divisionals, metros, or states. They often grab a spot when there are club meet conflicts though. PVS has several conflicting meets so when those kids scratch, others move up that week.
Every MoCo swimmer wants to be the next Katie!
Or Michael. MoCo swim is nuts.
