What in the world was wrong with my comment? The OP asked if she could go preppy and for suggestions for looks. I don't have any suggestions for stores or brands, but I stated that I think it's a nice style that I see worn by many fat women.

The word "fat" is loaded.  "Fat" is relative.  There's a world of difference between a size 14 and a size 24.  Some women don't think of themselves as particularly fat at a size 14, others do.  So I think people were objecting to your casual use of the of the F word.
